We finally have had rain for almost two days and it is like a minor miracle has happened for us all who garden.
Kingston has set a record of no rain for months .. the city had encouraged people to water their lawns (made me laugh .. make it a free watering session and I might consider it ?) because every bit of foliage every where was so dry it would go up in flames.
I watered my garden .. I don't give a hoot about grass .. it is the most wasteful North American obsession on earth !!
OK .. got that out of my system .. now for just some blooms I caught before the rains came .. I'm hoping there will be more after this wonderful session of nature's kisses ?
Just beginning to unfurl it's pretty face !
Our Passion Flower has been so pretty and the scent is a wonderful bonus !
Tiger Eye Sumac ... this is for Barry because he does love a great shade of chartreuse !
Little Lamb has tried so hard to keep its head(s) up during the drought .. A+ for effort and appearance!
Yes Little Lime has to be here as well .. but also because if you look to the right you will see the morning sun reflected on the flowers .. I thought it was kind of an extra pretty detail !
Twinkle has been holding on so well .. new buds popping all the time .. I will breath easier once it gets through one of our winters ?
Casa Blanca has been gorgeous and for once ? No beetle problem .. phew !
This was how I felt for weeks on end with the drought .. cracked and dried .. ready to crumble !
This final one was mother nature trying to make me laugh I am sure !

Lucky you to get some rain. You have lots blooming. Is your passion vine in the ground or do you bring it in during winter? If is is in the ground what gardening zone are you in? I have always thought I was too far north for them and you are miles north of where I live.
Joy, Passion and Little Lime are very beautiful!
I'm so happy for you, Joy! We're in the midst of a drought, too, and though we've gotten a couple of showers in the last month, we're still in a severe drought. Glad to see your garden doing so well; I think we're all appreciative of the tough survivors this summer. Is that Indian Pink in the first two photos? Another plant on my wish list...now if somebody would just dig up more lawn so I had a place to plant all my wish list:)
I bought a 'Little Lamb' on clearance at the end of the year last year. It's struggling, but amazingly is surviving, too.
I'm so glad you got rain! NOW,send some our way. LOL Beautiful pictures, Joy.
Yay for rain! So glad you got some finally! Now send it here!!! It is so dry here too. I am so ready for fall this year. I hate to even think of all those short days coming and the leaves to rake but I am sick of the heat and worrying about watering. School starts in three weeks and I am going to be so busyyyyyy!
Hi Joy! Oh your Indian plant is blooming. I just love it. Those things are hard to find around here. That lily is just so beautiful. Glad to hear you got some rain on your garden. What a relief for you and those plants. Have a great weekend.
Hello Lisa girl : )
The passion flower vine is only an annual kept in a pot for the season .. there is one that is supposed to be hardy but I never had luck with it .. so I always get a tropical like this for hubby .. we did have one in our garden at our house in Holland that was a beautiful perennial .. so he always thinks about that one when he sees my annual ones I buy for HIM! LOL
Hello Nadezda and thank you !
Rose I thought your blue and white post was great ! especially since I love those two wild flowers .. they aren't weeds to me at all ;-)
Yes that is the Indian Pink .. my last years and this years together in fact .. last year's one is the bloomer right now .. yes Little Lamb hangs in well no matter what!
Randy thank you : ) and how is driving that beautiful new car going ? LOL
I will do my best to tell the rain to go south of us now! wink wink
Cindee girl I am so glad for the rain .. it was getting scary .. talk about drought conditions.
Your school year starts so early and another yes for cooler weather .. but our Augusts and even a lot of September stay hot and humid for a long time yet .. yuck !
Lona girl thank you !
I can only get Indian Pinks through mail order but they are so worth it! .. Casa Blanca is just about done now but it was beautiful and I love it to bits : ) Yeah for the rain .. hope to get more before more months pass by!
Oh Joy, your plants look great!! The distorted coneflower looks like a muppet. I usually have zinnias morph like that... :) Fits right in to thie unusual gardening season!
I can't resist a Sumac, lovely little shrub that Tiger Eye. Had to look through the comments to find out what that top plant is, never heard of Indian Pinks but it's quite charming.
So glad to hear that you have rain, it makes life so much easier...
And hey, I totally agree about your rant on the lawns...it is wasteful to use our precious drinking water to water the lawn. But those people up here with the great big pools...they use up a lot of water also.

Ahhh, the sweet smell of wet soil! The rain of this past couple of days has done the garden wonders! Glad to see Spigelia is blooming for you. I am waiting patiently for my second flush! The way to this gardener's heart is through fabulously chartreuse foliage for sure! Hope we see more rain again soon..... looking hot and sunny for the next few days! :(
Darla girl as soon as you said ? muppet I had that vision in my head now too .. I really should send it to their creators and suggest a gardening character would be a GOOD thing for them ! teaching kids how wonderful it can be ? My zinnias .. first year trying them .. complete flop .. but then again this year is that way !
Hello Marguerite girl and Tiger Eye is much more manageable than my naughty Stag Horn .. Indian Pinks or Spigelia marilandica is a remarkable little "native" though it is hard to locate .. I can only find it in mail order .. it is a gorgeous little plant to have : )
I am smitten with it since last year.
Yes Jen girl .. even with hubby as a golfer .. I see those pictures on TV of vast golf courses soaking up precious water and I want to scream. Lawns ? I am taking up as much as possible and yet leaving a little for hubby to play with .. men seem to NEED a bit of lawn to fuss over ! LOL
Sweetie I am still totally red faced about ripping my original's head off thinking it was a weed .. I am paranoid now with all my plants ? LOL .. another stretch of hot dry weather to go through .. soon it will be August and I have nothing left in the garden to bloom?
UGH !!!
Thank you very much for your visit and comment.
It koleny fantastic post.
Pictures and flowers are lovely.
Lucia
