The beginning has maybe begun ?

I have only been in the gardens twice in the last few weeks ... first time was with Garden PA and we did a fair amount of garden clean up .

So much so that when I saw a pair of chickadees casing some of our bird houses out .. I had to scrounge some dead grass from the front garden for them, to make it look more appealing ?

I am completely happy to see the trilliums I planted last Spring popping up .. the yellow ones are a treat. The red ones are showing off as well, and when the white ones think of showing their faces ? that will be perfection to me.

I went out late Saturday afternoon and did more detail cleaning for the hellebore bed and the long sun strip .. I watered some VERY dry areas .. we haven't been getting any rain at all really. But strangely enough the water barrel is or was full .. so I am guessing that some how we had a fair size ice chunk in it that melted.

So on with pictures to entertain you with .. the hellebore walk of fame for me ? OK .. the fact that I haven't killed any in all my years of being a hellebore mum !

Ivory Prince
Penny's Pink .. like a rose bud unfolding !
Could be Golden Sunrise ? Not really sure about that though ?
Royal Heritage Strain ?
Dutchman's Breeches  aka Dicentra cucullaria
It was foggy the morning I took these pictures and you can actually see the tiny droplets of water on the edges of the foliage. Tiny diamonds ?
Long shot of the hellebore bed
It is finally raining so hopefully (I can actually see it moment to moment) the race is on towards JUNGLE mode ! .. I'll soon be complaining there is way too much work to catch up with.

Thank goodness for the rain, indeed!
These are beautiful flowers. I didn't know one could buy trillium seeds.

Hi Jenn .. I was just over at your blog to say hello and let you know where I got the trillium and other native plants .. I am hoping Loblaws will have them again this year but who knows what will happen with the influence of the virus dragging on so long ?
Still raining today which is very good for the garden so I am not complaining !

Your hellebores are amazing - that first one is a stunner!! We had a few trillium in our last garden and it was such a treat each spring.

The Trifecta of Trillium are great. I have tried and failed to move some of my prairie trillium. My lone yellow one was purchased and survived being rescued. But has never reproduced! Of course this is only its third season here. I still have hope.
Your hellebores look grand.
We had some chickadees start a nest in one of our houses and a darned wasp came and took over the house. Made me so sad.
It is way too cold here again. I took out most of the house plants and will now have to bring in some of the true tropicals.
Happy Gardening...

Beautiful shots of the Hellebores and Dutchman's Breeches. I have become a true convert to Hellebores over the last couple years! I am doing pretty well and hope you are the same.

Hello Margaret and thank you ! My hellebore are really shining this year and I am loving them when they do that .. I can't stop taking pictures of them ? haha I am hoping that the Loblaw's garden center will have more natives again like last Spring .. I can't get enough of them in my shade garden .. I am loopy for trillium ;-)

Lisa I have meant to email so many times to see how you are doing !
Some trillium are very hard to make happy ... my white ones are like that. Thankfully my hellebore are doing so well this year .. you know how you shudder when you cut back all the dead foliage, wondering if they will come back in a good way ? LOL
It has turned cold here too .. so I don't know what is going to happen to the gardens .. my daffs out front are blooming like mad and I never seem to get a photo fast enough of them.
We just have to wait out April and hope May is better .. hang in there girl !

Jason hello there ;-) Thank you so much ! I am mad for my hellebore but some years are better than others and this year is great .. Dutchman's Breeches feel very comfortable in bed with the hellebore so that is nice to see .. I love their foliage.
I'm glad you are doing well .. I am too .. fingers crossed the virus will be beaten back soon !

Hello Well Contained and thank you ! I stopped by your old blog and gasped at those gorgeous Autumn pictures .. it made me want Autumn now all over again ? LOL
