I am amazed with my Orientalis Hellebore or Helleborus x orientalis Heronswood Slate. This one I think I have down with the correct name .. and of course that can be opened for discussion any time since my pea sized brain left home without leaving a forwarding address.
BIG sigh ..... but isn't it a beauty ? still blooming in May !

joy,
Is it a kind of burgundy slate color? It looks great and who could not like the long bloom time! It's start in January and February here, but it 's just about over.
Gail
Hi Gail .. it is an unusual colour .. and it really didn't impress me at first .. then I went wow ! this is one beautiful plant .. isn't it funny how we do that sort of thing ? .. I only have the one hellebore but I'm thinking another one would keep it company ? LOL
joy,
They make babies but that does take a bit of time before they grow up enough to flower!
Gail
I might jump the gun in the Autumn if I find one I like .. but so far so good !
Joy,
your hellebore must be happy with you - thats the only explanation :)
Hi Ewa .. I am still so amazed with this .. you might just be right ? LOL
Wow one of the prettiest Hellebores I've ever seen, what an extraordinary color combination.
It all looks good! PW's has so many Heucheras that who can keep up? They will have more and more you know.... WE want them all. We got some Deutzia in this week at work--it was all beaten up. Looked like two or three cats got in there and fought over who was the cutest. We also got in the Adonis Blue Buttefly Bush and it was beat up too.
After looking at all that carnage--it's nice to come here and see your gardens all nicely taken care of. Thanks for the refuge.
Anna .. you sound exhausted .. discouraged .. I had to see plants like that at a nursery too it is especially hard when working there I can imagine.
You are so sweet saying my garden is a little refuge for you ..Thank You ! ..hope you feel better, not so tired sounding.
Violet .. I have had this one for a couple of years but this is the first year it is so striking ! I pays off to be patient and not demand too much of a plant until it is ready ?
Yes, it's a beauty and from what I can see, also an unusual colour. Though I still think Sophie is the real beauty :-)
Great to see so much lush growth in your garden!
Diane
Diane .. Thanks ! ... right now we are waiting for some warmer temps .. it has been a cold May here .. although I haven't lost any of my herbs I planted .. so far ..
It will be a jungle before I know it soon.
Sophie also thinks the same thing girl ! haha
