Joe Pye ... yes, my 'guy" !

Eupatorium purp. maculatum ‘Atropurpureum’ .. a mouthful eh ? That is why we just call 'him" Joe Pye. Well it is coming into bloom and look out for the bees because they love this plant. Who can blame them .. talk about a full buffet spread in the garden with cone flowers, butterfly bushes, roses, ... I could go on and on ... sounds good to me even if I'm not a bee ?
But 'Joe" is a tall dramatic plant and at the back fence 'he" gives me a wee bit of privacy from the dreaded neighbor thing .. phew ! .. so here are some pictures of Joe with a little buddy .. being busy ... as all bees are !

That is a beautiful plant and what a mouthful for a name....love Joe Pye! I posted a picture on my blog of my beautiful hibiscus that finally bloomed. I bought it very small at a store on a table with a bunch of different colors and tiny little buds, so I had no idea what color it would be..... ORANGE and it is gorgeous!!

I've heard of this one. I've got to try it. I just registered with the National Wildlife Federation to make my yard a certified habitat, so I need all the help I can get! I filled all the requirements!

Hi Brenda .. wow ! that is a great thing to do ! .. I'm curious about the requirments ? .. there are a variety of cultivars for 'Joe Pye" smaller ones have been bred for smaller gardens .. I would love to have some of those too .. and when the flowers open (these aren't even open yet) the flower head is gorgeous .. yes ! You have to have at least one of these girl !

Darlene !! Orange !! I know I love it already even without seeing it yet .. will get over there for a peek ! .. it is hard to judge what some of the plants will really look like when they bloom in our garden .. hibiscus are so pretty .. I had drooled over 'Copper King" for some time but no room .. so now I'll drool over yours ? LOL

Thanks for the reminder to go out and take a picture of my Joe Pye Weed. I think it's about 8 feet tall this year and like yours, just about to break out in fabulous bloom.
