Fennel Under "Glass"

Our weather has been a bit of a handful lately. We had a mini ice storm with freezing rain. The actual colour of the day is white on white .. no blue sky,not even what you would call gray .. just white sky reflecting off white snow and ice. White on white. So I didn't quite get this picture to display the way it should, to do it justice.

This is one of my fennel plants in the garden that became "fennel under glass".

Joy, I just can't even imagine the weather you have! Is it safe to drive!
Driving in icy or snoy conditions is not my favorite way to spend time! Keep warm dear! Gail

Brrrrrrrr I knew I would find snow here. The ice looks treacherous.

Oh yes, I wanted to mention that I like your gargoyle too.

Beautiful, Joy -- we've been under a 12-hour freezing rain advisory, but except for an hour or so of ice pellets this morning, we managed to avoid it. I'm not complaining, mind you! :)

They really do look like they've been dipped in liquid glass, don't they? We had similar weather last week and it was sooo icy on the streets that we stayed at home. Thank goodness we didn't need to go anywhere!

Thank you Tyra ! Hope you have a nice warm weekend too !

Why Mr. WiseA** ... Thank you sir ! I think there may be a few plants under glass at your neck of the woods too ?

Hey Debbie .. thanks girl ! ..

Amy .. it was tricky here .. but we have had this type of weather a lot so most drivers cope, but a few others .. well they are IDIOTS of course .. thank goodness number one son does not drive far to work .. hubby is finally putting new snow tires on his truck .. so he is fed up with the weather now ; )

Nancy .. Thank you girl ! I have been watching the weather warnings for your end of Canada and it is harsh ! .. hope things don't get too bad with your area ..

Lisa .. Thanks from all my gargoyle guys here ! : )
It was COLD yesterday .. even taking pictures my hands had problems .. we are up and down a lot with weather .. not good : (

Hi Cameron .. it is amazing to look at such detail perfectly encased with the ice .. I just wish I knew how to adjust the lighting better .. must read manual !!

Hi Gail .. it is tricky, even getting out of our neck of the neighborhood .. the ploughs live us for last on the list some times .. cul du sac as in dead end street ? haha
Thanks girl .. the fireplace is wonderful to instantly heat a frozen core : )

Hi Joy, your photos are wonderful, light or not! I love the fennel in every stage of life and death, or just coma, but encased in ice, it is magical. BTW, loved your rock lamp too, and like the amber color best, like you, it looks like a fire.

I can't imagine your winters, so far up north from me. Although, I lived in Maine for 5 years...and my husband family is all there. It gets pretty snowy where they are! I hope that you'll stay warm and take care of yourself, Joy! Jan/ThanksFor2Day PS There you go, POSTING again!!! (Me too!)

Jan ! I can't stick to my plan of taking a day or two off from posting .. especially if I am stuck in the house.
Yes .. it is cold up here but the swings of weather can drive you crazy fast ! ... the freezing rain is a concern too .. driving is tricky .. but were are Canadian EH ! hahaha

Hi Frances .. Thank you girl ! .. I thought it was really interesting to look at in this state .. I love fennel, dill, rosemary .. well most herbs I guess ? They are so pleasing in appearance and scent .. can't imagine not having them !
You are on the bandwagon with the rest of us concerning the colour .. I'm sure it has to be a woman thing !

Darlene .. it is a bit warmer today .. but I am still not sticking my tongue on anything metal outdoors ! hahahaha
Yes !! I have to have a peek at Midnight : )

Ice storms are my least favorite! But your fennel does look beautiful encased in "glass." Take care driving!

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi Rose ( I so enjoyed Toby's comments .. the girls did too !)
Number one bad point of winter .. ice storms .. I hate them .. and Kingston is the twilight zone for weird and wacky weather .. so we have to ride out each weather system very carefully .. my plant mobile (aka green Sunfire) rides very well through them so far ..
PHEW ! haha

Thanks for all the concern, hope that you don't get whatever I have. It is nasty, and it does hang on forever!!! Silly virus. But please be assured that I am taking as good care of myself as possible. I suppose this is what I get for missing my flu shot this year.

I love the photos, they are gorgeous, nice to know that the ice is good for something. Hope that you get some better weather soon.

Jen

Hi Jen .. Good to hear from you girl ! .. Some virus/flu/cold stretch out for the long haul and they really knock the stuffing out of us. I can't take the shot so I use the army of supplements I have and it seems to do a good job, so far !
Yes .. some ice is a good thing ? for pictures .. but for driving, not so much .. more to come so I better buck up for it all ? haha

Hello there PG ! Thanks girl .. I think I will toast my toes by the fireplace and maybe some cocoa might be in order too ? : )
