What Emma Saw ....

First .. I have to explain I was shooting this scenario from way back in the dinning room. Shooting into the morning sun .. horizontal blinds .. and yes, the inevitable dirty glass deck door thingy .. BIG sigh !
Yet .. I could not help myself when I saw Emma go into "HUNT" mode .. it is amazing when Sophie never taught her any hunt skills .. it is innate in cats I guess. Just like the weird habit Sophie has of trying to bury her left over meals .. first cat I have ever had that did that !
In any case .. the birds are enjoying the berries from the Sumac and Mountain Ash tree .. so Emma's hunting skills are being honed on her own and she seems to be doing a fine job of it !

Cute photo. What kind of bird is it, with its speckled breast?

Sure looks like a Starling, from here... the dark color, speckles and short tail are what I'm going by. These are the rascals that keep my woodpeckers from the suet and devour all the ornamental crab apples or Viburnum berries in one sitting - usually appear in large flocks (more like gangs) around here. I'll send them up to mingle with yours, if you like! /Deb

It could possibly be a starling, with its speckled breast. Hard to say as I can't seem to get too clear of a view of it. Regardless, the poor thing is all ruffled up trying to keep warm.

Hi again Rose .. Hey those were funny jokes you sent me girl ! .. First thing thing that came to me was starling but I really don't know any birds other than the Goldfinches .. I think that is what this guy is though !

Brenda .. I bet Bonnie will settle in very comfortably, once she has that "view" ! LOL

Deb ..these guys cam in a gang .. I was just lucky to catch a single one all the way back from the dinning room .. No thanks girl .. we have enough of our own here !
