Chaos at the castle .......

The beast is gone .. it took 7 "he-men" or manly men as Aunt Debbie calls some men ? It is hard to believe it was supported by just a few breeze block bricks .. they picked it up , foundation and all and walked it over to a trailer .. some one was happy to have it .. we are just glad it is out and thngs are opened up for a tidy up before the deck guys get at it.
Or "get'er DONE !" as some American rednecks say ? haha
Lonely little Karl Foerster stands by a little Center Glow Ninebark, that you can hardly see yet.
This innocent looking clump of dried ornamental grass is Purple Flame grass or Miscanthus sinensis purpurascens if you want to get picky ? .. it has one heck of a root ball that I tried to split before .. last year .. I am going to try again this year, so it can get out of that squeezed in corner and show off how lovely it truly is in the Autumn.

The sweet little finches are back and enduring some rotten weather we have been going through .. when it was sunny it was COLD .. now that it is warming up .. it is going to rain (which we can use actually .. even with all the snow , we need more moisture in the ground !)
I'm shooting all of these pictures from the comfort of my kitchen/office .. through the dirty glass doors .. Spring may be coming but the cleaning hasn't started yet .. go figure ? I spent quality time in the plant racks ?
I'm happy to have caught the wing colour on this marsh bird .. it really pops out at you !

Hang in there ... better weather will come eventually and why not hang out here for the free seed anyways ??

I am glad they got the shed moved. I bet it was a major lifting experience! Aren't you glad you didn't have to do it?(-: Thats what the guys are for anyhow!
I just mowed the lawn! OMG it was a mess even though I spent hours/ days/weeks raking all winter it seemed(-: It looks so much nicer now and I am going to fertilize it and it should perk up good! Yay for Spring!!!

Yes!!! Progress, plus great bird photos! Our goldfinches are "golding up" now, too, and we had nearly 50 red-winged blackbirds here the other day en route to wherever. Cheers me up to see the pictures of yours!

Wow those are some manly men working on your yard Joy! I bet it is going to look great when it's all said & done though. Stay inside and watch the birds for now. They are good company! :)

What a difference that made; can't wait to see the final transformation when the deck guys are finished. Bet you can't wait for spring!

Glad to see things are getting done. Jeeze, I move one ton boulders by hand and people call me an idiot. You get 7 to move a shed and they're manly :)

I want more than seed for hanging out here. Send bags of Loonies :)

Glad you were able to find some manly men to move that for you:) My Manly Man is building me a deck and rebuilding a car this weekend.

Looks like thing are moving along for the deck! Won't you be glad when it's all finished? I bet it's going to be nice! That Marsh bird is beautiful, I've never seen that one before. I'm glad the weather is warming up a bit for you!

In our neck of the woods, the red-winged blackbird is a more reliable sign of spring than the robin is.

Cindee .. I just thought of this .. I should have paired the picture with one that HAD the shed in it .. DUH ? LOL .. but YES ! that is gone and we can do a bit of cleaning out before the deck guys have at it : )
Grass is such a fickle thing .. the more I get rid of .. the better I feel girl ! .. GOOD luck with yours .. it sounds like it is perking up nicely for you !

Hi 'ben" ! YES ! .. we see their colours are picking up speed too .. they came earlier than last year so we were surprised, pleasantly of course : ) I don't know why the marsh birds hang out here .. must be the food ? LOL That colour on their wings is amazing .. it would be even better if I was outside taking pictures ? LOL

Hi Racquel .. Yup ! men are very good for those types of jobs .. it just looks like an utter mess right now but I am hanging on with my mind's eye knowing it will look much better when it is all over : )

Hi Cathy .. Yup ! Spring is slowly dancing towards us girl !

Hi Nola .. it is such a GAP now ! it was there as long as we had been here .. moved in 10 years ago and hubby put it up pronto since we had no garage .. but glad to switch to a newer nicer shed .. can't wait for this to be done : )

Dear Mr. WiseA** .. you made me laugh this morning, yet again ! I just knew you were going to say something like that .. you are a VERY manly man but no one around to witness your feats of strength .. you need a GOOD PR assistant to get you publicity ; )
I'll think about the loonies .. they are VERY appropriate for YOU !! haha

Debbie .. WOW !! .. you have one MANLY man girl ! I bet he doesn't even break a sweat ? LOLOL

Hi Tessa .. finally YES !! the weather is warming up a bit .. it is really foggy this morning .. and rain is still coming .. but that helps loosen the earth a bit for some digging up and moving of plants .. I will be SO glad to have this done for sure girl !

Hi Jill .. I think I have heard that about other areas in Ontario .. these colourful birds are pretty ... but boy are they LOUD ! haha

I'm sure you're glad they got the shed moved--let the gardening begin! Great shots of the birds; I haven't noticed too many finches around here, but maybe that's because I haven't refilled their feeder in awhile:) Looks like March is going to go out like a lion here, too.

How exciting to see the macho men moving the shed. Now the fun of the deck guys...

I've never seen that marsh bird! How pretty it is. I haven't seen my goldfinches for awhile. Lots of chickadees though.

You have certainly done a great job with your post today and the story that goes with the pictures is really very interesting.

I like your story about splitting the root ball. It is hard work even with a sharp axe and a big time swing. But I have also done it with a square bladed shovel and some jumping up and down on the shovel.

What was where the empty spot is now?

I like your bird pictures. We got some back and are looking forward to the migration of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Brown Thrashers and Eastern Towhees.

You are one talented person.

Hi Rose .. the other simple ADORABLE shed will fill that spot and a bit more we think .. but it gives me time to get in and grab those naughty vines that got away from me over the years. I still want one going up to the lattice work but more control is needed.
I can't really get into gardening until all of this mess is settled and the deck is done .. then .. I will be hunting for sure ! : )

Skeeter .. I would have taken a picture of the guys moving the shed .. but I was in my pajamas .. and it would be pushing it a bit me running after them in screaming red polar bear print ? LOL

Brenda ! that is a new picture girl : ) I think they are called Red Wing Black birds ? .. I'm not sure but wow, their bird song is LOUD ! .. we always love having the little finches come .. and the doves .. I think they will avoid us when the real noise happens with the new deck !

Well hello there oldmanlincoln !
Thank you very much !
I dread trying to get that root ball up and splitting it .. but it has to be done and enough coffee might just enable me ? one tough job though ..
Our older metal shed was in the empty spot .. now there will be a resin one with a too cute to live look : ) .. I missed having a playhouse as a kid, so now I will .. but having to share it with the golfing fisherman is part of the bargain ? haha
We really enjoy seeing all the different birds stopping by .. the Goldfinches know they have a great resteraunt here ! : )

Yay, glad that part of the project is over! Love the marshbird...haven't seen those before!

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hi Jan .. You don't have those birds around ? .. they are noisy when they start voicing their opinions ! haha
Yes .. it almost seems like work is beginning .. but a lot of rain days are coming up .. so it will grind to a halt again no doubt : (

Giddy ! Oh my god girl, have you made me laugh ! .. I had no idea how to translate the git'er done thing so thank you !! LOL
I love the Main accents .. there is just something about that way of speaking that I enjoy .. "The Whales of August" with Betty Davis and the other gal ... well I watch it all the time .. can't help myself .. now I will be thinking of you when I do ! haha
Walk past a display like that ? NEVER !! : )
