Winter Solstice .. Lately noticed ?

This is how the winter solstice dawned on Monday morning .. not with a dramatic red sky morning. The "blue" was desperately trying to punch through the clouds though .. and I appreciated its efforts .. the day did finally become more sunny if not colder ... brrrrrr
I try to see the sky instead of my neighbor's roof .. but sometimes it provides an edge .. some what of a bench mark.

The bits of blue were very pale at times .. almost as if it were giving up ..
The sun took on a perhaps an over bright glare ? Like some one turned on a light bulb in the sky with it trying so hard to shine ..
I really like the Mountain Ash's fingers .. I never gave it a thought until I started close up shots and saw them .. and of course they made me think of Halloween ..
The afternoon sun was softly beautiful .. bits of light gently touching objects.
I loved the affect it had .. just kissing certain spots
The famous rosemary is still hanging on .. look above it on the right to see the suspicious "Maypop" passion flower vine .. curly tendrils still stubbornly hunting for something to grab ?
Another shot ... ice mixed with greenery .. and a dragonfly to boot ?
I think I am in total awe of this stubborn spirited herb .. how she does it I have no idea.
I love her to bits for hanging on and on and on ?

So this was winter solstice

Oh, I love the sunlight 'kisses' as well. What a great way to describe the effect. Our solstice was grey and rainy. But I'm OK with rain - you don't have to shovel it!

What beautiful shots Joy. I spent my winter solstice baking. Speedy didn't have a great day that day...

The lighting over your plants was so pretty. I love when the sun is able to break through the clouds a bit on a cold winter day.
I hope Rosemary survives all winter for you. I just cut some sprigs from mine to bring inside, they smell so good.

Lovely photos Joy! I didn't used to like the light this time of year unless it was bright and sunny at least part of the day, but I've really come to appreciate winter's beauty in recent years.

Merry Christmas!

Lovely photos, Joy! The sky looks as though it's ready to burst with a showering of snow. I'm ready for a little snow instead of the rain we keep getting.

Glad to see the rosemary is hanging in there--wishing you a very Merry Christmas, Joy!

Carrie (pppssst ! don't tell anyone !!) honest to god girl I don't know how the rosemary is doing it but she is doing it !!
Yes : ) give me a chance and I will find Halloween some where ??

Merry Christmas Linda and I am glad you can see a little pleasure in the different lighting .. the sky can be simply awesome even when we think it is ordinary .. I think the " light bulb" is actually in us to turn on ? LOL

Rose girl a very merry Christmas to you and your family (furry creatures too !) I am expecting to see a change in rosemary every day especially with our colder temps, but no she is hanging in no matter what : ) amazing ? LOL
Hope you get a bit of snow just to make it a white Christmas !

Your photos lately are amazing. Did you get that new camera?

Funny how all that extra practice we get from needing blogging shots improves our skills.

Love what you are posting.
