Autumn Colour and Retro Costumes ?

I have to say how happy I am that I convinced some fellow gardeners to try out Morden Sunrise! ...
I hate to say "I told you SO" .. so I won't .. and yet bask in the light of a garden mission gone well?
Kate "High Altitude Gardening" Rebecca "In the Garden" and Martha "Water Roots" ! ;-)
I remember waiting for these buds to open and chatting to Tina "In the Garden"about the flower being so subtle .. maybe this year I might have a better chance at a more detailed picture !
They have survived me pulling some of them out and a dry summer where it lives in my garden so you can add "stubborn" in its description but in a good way !!
I was so happy to find Pamina this year and had to have two of them just to be safe ?
Grace girl "Gardening with Grace".. how is that PINK ???!!!
Prince Henry slowly unfurling his petals .. a beauty as well on the guy side ?
So I may have a lot of grasses but I also have some flowers with great colour !
I am so grateful to have amazing skies .. even though sometimes there is a long gap between them .. it makes you appreciate them even more when you have a beauty to photograph !
Now for a few retro costume snaps I picked up .. you don't see them often so I was too happy to collect them : )

Does anyone else remember having cardboard dolls with paper clothes ?
Am I the only one ?? .. I loved them as a kid : )

I had cardboard dolls with paper clothes! Morden's Sunrise looks great. I have so little room I am literally squeezing in plants, this has to stop!

Oh yes, I remember paper dolls! I had quite a collection as a child and had so much fun with them. Of course, I grew up pre-Barbie:)

What are those interesting-looking seedpods in your header?

Eileen I can't remember exactly how old my sister and I were when we had them but we had lots of fun with them and "made" more clothes out of paper too .. then we moved on to Barbie VERY fast with a troll or two in between, remember those ?
Too funny .. you have to have Morden Sunrise Eileen .. squeeze a little room out and you will LOVE IT !!

Dear Dave (I have been so behind in visiting .. eekk !) hey there were guy paper dolls too ! LOL
Thank you : ) I have a thing for Autumn plants they really give your garden one more shot in the arm before the snow drops on us all !

Rose girl ! we had so much fun with them but I can't for the life of me remember how old I was .. I know I had a Barbie at about 7 or 8 .. why is it so hard to remember ?? LOL
What you see is Blue False Indigo Baptsia Australis my first and only which took a few years to get to this size but it is beautiful from Spring to winter and please don't tell me you do not have one?! .. I could send you some seeds but it takes so long from that point .. you have to have one Rose and there are so many gorgeous cultivars of them now ! Write it down for next Spring !!

Hello Sunita girl : ) Yes .. I have been trolling for more Halloween bits and pieces .. once the monster is let out, I have to let it do what it wants ? hear the SPOOKY music ?? hehehehe

I really enjoy your Halloween posts/pics; they are so much fun. I've been going around town checking out the Halloween stuff. Don't you just love this time of year with all its fall shades?

Lovely photos, Joy; your flowers are so pretty. And yup, I'm a Morden Sunrise lover now, thanks to you. Didn't take much convincing on my part to get me to buy that plant. I really trust your judgment. Whatever you’ve recommended to me has turned out great. You, my dear friend, with all those years of experience, are a garden guru!

Hey there Martha girl !
Yup .. sometimes I stumble on a fantastic plant that I have to convince other gardeners they should try out and I don't stop until that mission is accomplished ? haha
I am still "hunting" Halloween anf the pickings are lean for some reason .. if only Lowes hadn't goofed up they would be open with great stuff I am sure ! Next year look out !LOL

I adore(d) paper dolls. I just ordered a CD with all the paper dolls of Betsy McCall for the first 10 years. Hmmm, wonder why it isn't here yet? I have several other sets of paper dolls, including a reproduction of Patty Page paper dolls that my aunt had given to me (she is only four years older than me) after she was finished playing with them.

Hello there ! Yes : ) paper dolls were such fun and so easy to change their out fits .. now a days kids would sneer at them I think .. unless they thought there was money value to the older ones ? LOL
Simpler times .. much better for us all : )
