Do You Miss That Buzzzzzzzz ?

After reading Sunita from The Urban Gardener's post this morning on the insects in her garden .. I began to think about how I almost miss that "buzzzz" of activity along with my beautiful plants.
For some one who suffers with tinnitus .. to say they actually miss that sort of sound, well that is REALLY missing garden season to go to those lengths !
It seems we are always trying to balance the good insects with the bad insects when we are in full garden mode .. some times we win .. for moments ? a lot of times we lose for days, weeks, dare I say months ??
It is always a check and balance situation.
This little guy is not at that stage but he/she always makes my heart THUMP when I think of the possibility of seeing the whole magical process of the birth of a butterfly .. sadly I have yet to see it happen but I am NOT giving up !!
Some people think that this little one is a dragonfly .. maybe he/she really really wants to be one too ?
This little one is indeed the real deal ... they totally engage and amaze me to bits .. some times it is like they actually want their picture taken .. and I am more than willing to oblige !
Pinky Winky seemed to be a favorite at the time : )
Just relaxing at the pool side ?
Some little mysteries you have to really look very closely for .. keep looking .. they are there !
Then there are the dandy ones that truly make you smile ...
How can you not when "they' are smiling back at you ?
No insects were ill treated or damaged during this photo shoot !!!! wink wink

Dragonflies are amazing and I miss them too. We have some that are bright orange/red and they just languish at the pond! Dreaming of summer already, are we?

Those are wonderful pictures - a lot better than most of my efforts to get pictures of insects. I think I need a lens with more magnification, and steadier hands!

Yes, I too miss the low rumble of buzz. You insect images are really nice. Such patience and a steady camera.

Hello there Whimsy !
Dragonflies are just about my favorite (I only wish we could have a pond to keep them and frogs !) We also have some amazing coloured ones as well .. I don't think I caught them as easily though .. and YES !

Hello there RP : ) and thank you !
So much is good luck with light, the insect and the "antishake" system in my camera ! LOL I didn't even shoot these in macro .. it was on auto because things happen so fast I depend on that option to do what I need done ;-)

GWGT hello there : ) and thank you! The patience factor really happens when I see such opportunity right in front of me .. I so want to catch those images .. some days I can .. some days ? NOT ! LOL

I do miss my little buzzing friends, too. But I sure wouldn't want them here right now--they would need down overcoats and fur hats to stay warm:) Don't you love it when you take a photo of a flower only to discover when you download it that there's a tiny little creature on one of the petals? Most of my best insect shots are usually these accidental kind.

I can't believe how green your garden still is! We have a a cover of snow and temps in the teens!

Rose girl hello there !
Hey we are in the same state now ... no more green just a blanket of white fluffy, very clean looking snow for now ? haha
That is SO true Rose .. some of my best ones are that way too .. a combination of "I think I see ... and then we wander around with the camera stuck to our faces ? LOL

Hello Rebecca and thank you so much! .. I know I might complain next season if the buzzing gets to me after a while .. but at this point ? wow .. bring some on ?LOL

Hello Tatyana girl : ) thank you so much .. I love sneaking into the archive and remembering what summer was like all over again : )

gittan girl : ) thank you and how are you ! I have to come over and see what you are up to ! You must be covered in the fluffy white stuff by now too ;-)

Hey, damselflies are important, too! And, some of them are quite beautiful.

My Park Seed catalog came today. After supper, I am going to sit on the sofa and study it.

Sandy girl !! I know they are too and they also love to have their picture taken I have found ! LOL
For the life of me I couldn't remember their name, so that is why I didn't have it in the post .. a severe DUH ? moment yet again in my life : ) .. I have been looking at my catalogs too and drooling ??? hehehe

Great post, Joy! And it looks like we share more in the garden than I thought possible. Those dragonflies and damselfly look perfectly happy in your Canadian garden as they do in my tropical, humid Mumbai one :)

Hello Sunita and thank you !
Yes .. most of us have that common bond of interesting insects don't we? I can do without some of them though!
haha ...
