Shadow Shot Time

I am listening to the rain .. and I am thankful it finally came because it was almost time to drag out the hose and start a wrestling match with it as I quenched the thirst of my garden babies.
Listening to rain is soothing .. but probably after days and days of it I will be saying something else ? ... So shadow shot time has my attention and this Cotoneaster shrub seemed rather perfect .. shaows on weathered wood are beautiful in their own right .. some kind of atmosphere is created, I can't quite put my finger on it but I love it : )
Tracy over at Hey Harriet will have many more shadow shooters with their own perfect shots, so have a look at them .. I promise it will be interesting !

Beautiful shadow Joy! You're right about the rain, the novelty wears off pretty quickly, but it's nice to have a break from hand watering (just don't do what I did and assume that ALL areas receive water...).

Quick run outside Joy, I am sending you some of our rain. It will be sopping wet, cold, grey, and damp.

Hope that you enjoy it. We can exchange that rain for some of your sunshine.

Hello there Rebecca girl and thank you : ) .. yup, I think we might get a little cranky in two days but the rain is suppossed to go on until Thursday and even more to come .. things will get a bit out of hand .. eeekkkk !

Jen girl we are in full rain mode now so I didn't have a chance to send you any sunshine .. sorry about that .. and this rain is supposed to stay a long time .. so I will be getting a wee bit cranky with no garden work getting done!

Gorgeous shadow shot, Joy! And, yes, the novelty of rain does wear thin pretty fast!! When I lived in Texas I longed for those rainy days and enjoyed every minute, but after nearly 20 years in the northwest I really, really enjoy the sun breaks!! Hope you have a great weekend with enough rain to help things grow and enough sun to make you smile!

Sylvia

Perfect shadow!

Yes, we needed rain here too.

The too much of it. days in a row is time to be tired of rain is when we have had enough of it. Although seven sunny and warm days in a row would be even nicer! Nevertheless, the plants need a drink of water, and unchlorinated rainwater is the best for our flora.

A friend is coming his week to help plant tomato seedlings, so the balance of sun and water will be monitored often...

I had one of those shrubs...killed it. Funny, it is a wrestling match with the hose !

Is Jackie out of her mind ?
She has to get caught this season stealing drugs.

This shot has such a tranquil feeling. Very nice.

This shadow looks lacy. I like your header shot too.

That's a pretty shadow!

We've had so many rainy days. The forecast shows rain almost daily next week, too. The garden is happy, but at some point my xeric plants will get fed up with it all!

Rain here too! One good thing about the rain, the landscaping project get stalled. It gives me time to catch up until everything is dry again. I like the lighting in your shadow shot. Very soft and warm.

Hello there Sylvia and thank you : )
Yes .. I too got sick of it on the coast after a while .. this is just going to be one of those years that we are going to get drenched .. good for planting trees and major garden plants though so I have to grin and bear it ? haha

EG I am sure you are now well entrenched in our rain belt by now .. the garden is leaping forward with growth you can almost see it happening ! haha

Ralph I hope you get the sun you need for those little tomato plants they need an equal measure of sun and rain to be happy and yield a good crop for you : ) best of luck with that !

Patsi girl I have a long list of plants that didn't survive me too .. and YES ! she has to be caught soon this is ridiculous .. I think Sam knows what is going on .. how do you like the new male nurse ?

Thank you Cindy .. it struck me as warm and calm : )

Hey Lisa girl ! thank you : )

Hello there Freda girl and yes ! I know what you mean about those plants that are happier in drier conditions .. this is going to be one wet year unless things turn around completely !

Thank you Donna girl .. I have another small project I need done with flagstone .. so that is going to have to wait until the rain backs off .. in the mean time I can contact companies for estimates I guess ?

Nice shot! Glad you are getting rain for the plants. We are very wet here after days and days of rainy gloom, but maybe some sun today!
Images do look spectacular on weathered wood.

Peace

A lovely shadow! I have been listening to the rain as well and watching our robin family on the porch. Finally got some flowers yesterday but will have to wait to plant. Spring is finally here!
Hope you have been enjoying your weekend!

I'm happy for your rain...(And join all the other commenters who agree that it does get "old" fast!)

For ALL of us, it's a good exercise in flexibility and adaptation :)

Thank you Joe : ) I love weathered wood for shots like this. Rain .. rain .. and more rain is what we are in the middle of .. no relief until Thursday is predicted .. a little much but the garden is lapping it up .. but why can't it alternate ? rain, then sun, then rain ? haha

Hello there Annie and thank you : )

Thanks Chubskulit ? just something simple can do the job : )

Beverly thank you and I am wondering if you are stuck in rain mode too ? we just can't be happy with too much of one thing and not enough of another ? haha

Hello Rebecca and thank you .. yes indeed it makes us accept what we can't change ? but we can still complain about it ? haha
