Winter ? How dare You !!

How sad is this to see Gold Finches hanging on for dear life as they try to eat enough seed to keep themselves warm and alive in this despicable flash back of winter weather (that we never really had  mind you)

The boys are so disgusted they won't even look at me ....

So far my beautiful gift seems to be snug and safe ... waiting for warmer weather of course ... hang in there baby!!

Meanwhile my plant markers are here and I should be using my special pencils to write out the names of the plants I want to make sure I do not mess up on what they called .. these are zinc .. they will be at an easy read angle when placed in the ground .. and it only took me 12 years to buy them ? ( giggle snort giggle)

You got snow that settled Joy, we just had wet stuff that melted (thank goodness) I've got new plant markers too, from Lee Valley, just waiting for that nice weather to return so I can get them all set up.

Ugh, that old white miserable stuff. Why did it wait until spring to greet everyone. I like your plant markers Joy.I should have them as forgetful as I am getting. LOL! Good thing I have drawings and charts. I hope this cold spell goes away as fast as it arrived.Just when we were all getting so much done out side and now it is on hold again. I hope you got your roses planted.

We're getting it here this morning!I am concerned about the robin nesting in our tree, as I watch the wind sway her nest back and forth while the ice pellets cover her body.

Hello Linda girl : )
The snow was washed away by the rain .. but the wind is wicked .. and it is cool at there for sure !
I need to start marking the plant markers so they are ready to go .. I am really glad to have found them for a reasonable price : )

Lona girl hello there ! This has taken me over 11 years to get markers and I don't have good drawings or any drawings at all .. it is all memory and we know where that tanked out ? LOL
Yes ! I was just getting started when everything went to hell in a handbag with this severe change of weather .. BIG sigh !

Oh no ... Karen ! That would have me stressed too .. one year I had to see a Mourning dove make a nest in my neighbor's gutter .. I could see it from my kitchen window .. it was only a matter of time before a big gush of water rushed it out .. but I think it happened before there were eggs at least .. it is hard to watch when things are going badly for them.

Can you believe it, Joy? Snow, of all things. I woke up yesterday morning and was floored! And they I started to worry about all the bird nests, the little unhatched eggs and all the mama birds trying to keep them warm while they tried to keep themselves warm. Anyway, thank goodness it melted quickly. I hope all those little critters came out of it okay.

I love those plant markers! Where did you get them? They look quite sturdy; much better than some of the ones I see at the stores around here. Do you leave them out year round?

Oh that's just nasty! I'm sorry you got hit with late season snow. It's chilly here, but no snow. Yippee!

Martha girl I sent you an e-mail last night as to where to buy them .. they were great at Stokes Seeds!
Yes .. I would leave them year round because I would have to try and remember which plants were which all over again !!! LOL

Robin girl it was a slap in the face to see that on Monday morning .. I haven't been able to work in the garden for days and days now .. I am so pissed ! LOL

Brrrr. You will have a regular botanic garden after you get those markers in place. I need those for my garden party later in June. People will be asking me what this and that is and I won't know what to tell them. My brain short circuits when I least want it to.

Hmmm! just 12 years to get your plant markers, you are way ahead of me in that department. *chuckle*
I will have to go look at Stokes, and order some of those.

Well, I hate to say it but it was bound to happen, right? Hopefully it's a short visit though and the sun will return in earnest very soon. Not only you need it but the birds and bees and plants need it too. Hugs!

I got similar markers last year and I love them. Some I didn't even write on, just stuck them in the ground to remind me where plants were located. The shiny colour makes sure I don't miss them in the garden. Sorry to hear you got that snow, we just missed it here and got all the rain instead.

We too got snow, but it did not stay. It was just miserable, wet and cold. The robins looked most distressed.

Lisa girl you are so NOT alone in a fried brain .. it is especially maddening when it comes to our gardens eh ? I intend to know at least a few of my plants here eventually ! haha

Keewee girl I highly recommend them ! especially the long ones because you get a very good grip in placement .. the price is great too at Stokes and you get a choice of zinc or copper : )

Gracie girl it is going to be sunny at least part of this day .. a hard frost which I was shocked about but why should I be surprised ? the weather does what the weather DOES!LOL

Marguerite girl the snow washed away quickly .. phew ! and YES ! having these markers are going to be great .. reminding me not only what is what but like you .. that there is a plant there !!

Donna girl we have been so sorry for the birds .. especially our little Gold Finches gripping the bird feeders with all of their might .. at least they are getting food ! and it is sunny this morning: ) whoopee !

oh no ~ not snow NOW! :(
That's tough to take. Hope it warms up soon Joy. We need some kind of moisture but I prefer rain at this point! Your new plant markers are awesome.
