Shadow Shot Time
I am reaching back to a moment in time this past year that made me incredibly happy.
The previous Autumn I saved a Black Swallowtail caterpillar from my fennel and kept it safely in a container until it finally made it's cocoon.
I saved it (on blind faith in nature and crossed fingers for luck) in the fridge all winter in an old spaghetti sauce jar.
Then when I felt it was warm enough, long enough, during the days and nights .. I brought it out to the deck, in a protected area .. I didn't want a bird to think it was dinner!
We (husband and son were very keen to see what might happen too) waited and wondered if this would work.
By some miracle Number One Son saw this little beauty climb out, after a point when we almost gave up.
He help it up and it clung to his t-shirt.
I can't explain the thrill we all got from seeing this amazing little life actually be born.
One day I hope to go through the whole process again now that I know it is possible!
There are a few shadows that will coax the viewer into agreeing this is worthy of Shadow Shot time.
I hope you take the time to click on the icon to visit other shadow worlds and see what mysteries they may have to surprise you with as well !

Beautiful shadow shot for the day! Have a good weekend.
Oh that sounds soo beautiful ! Glad it worked out for the little fella .Lovely photo . No snow here yet just rain , I want snow so I can photograph a winter wonderland again ! Your header photos are awesome ! Have a good day !
What a beautiful life emerged from the cocoon - the flying creature perhaps attached to the shirt to say hello, thank you and finally fly onward. I hope that you are able again to do so. A gardener seems the ideal person to coax life into any and everything they touch...
What a lovely Nature story Joy, so glad the butterfly emerged for you to enjoy its beauty.
Hello Lady,
A what? You did that? That's the best thing I read so far in blogielandia.
GREAT shot! Can't be better.
Hope you have a wonderful w/end.
Hugs,
/CC girl
Wonderful story -- I would have been thrilled, too.
Wow! To take such an important role in a miracle of Nature! Incredible post and beautiful photo!
Okay, butterflies are something that I really miss in the winter time! You had asked me once about the euphorbia in my garden, and it is a Bonfire. I highly recommend it! Great color all year long.
Fantastic shot Joy... and what a lovely little story! I miss your kitty header, but this one is pretty too! Cheers!
What an amazing moment, and to think that it was in the fridge all that time, and still came out.
Oh Joy! In more ways then one.
Jen
