Part II Mail Order Review for Canning Perennials

Canning Perennials was one of the first mail order plant companies I tried, and was so surprised at the size of the plants that came .. I had been hesitant because it was a bit more pricey BUT you can see why when you get the plants !
This a a 2 x size box ... long and heavy and it travels a short difference because this company is also fairly close in south eastern Ontario.

# 1 is my last minute order Indian Pinks (I think I lost mine over the winter) but these come up very late so maybe the original might still peek out ?
I didn't want to take a chance since husband really likes this plant too !
# 2 Aconitum Blue Lagoon .. I have loved this cultivar for a while and had to cave : )
# 3 clematis Blue Angel ... I needed something special to cover the bare side of my bittersweet vine .. something neutral and this flower looked perfect !
# 4 Panicum Prairie Fire .. I still have a deep need for ornamental grasses and this one fits the bill for later on in the year COLOUR !
# 5 Astrantia Venice .. a spectacular red for the shady side of the long strip.
I love those flowers and in that colour ? perfection !
# 6 Epimedium Roseum .. a barrenwort .. I had a weakness for one more to go on the hellebore raised bed where my first one is .. repetition can be a good thing right?
# 7 Echinacea Double Scoop Raspberry .. OK ... I admit, every year I collect an echinacea and this colour and form did intrigue me a bit .. thus here it is !

So .. pros and cons to Canning ?
Pros .. short distance delivery .. BIG plants so you get some satisfaction straight away.
Owner Chris, is easy to contact and discuss concerns with.
Cons .. it can be a bit pricey but you get what you pay for type deal !

This is the company I'd like to try for next year, both this post and your last year's post, the plants have impressed me... I will definitely want to look them up online and see what I can find that is unusual but that may grow up here (without having to fuss too much to prepare it for winter)! Cheers~

I feel like I am right there opening the package. Unlike bills, it is fun to get this sort of mail! Between this and the last post, you have some nice additions to the garden this spring Joy.
