Monsters and Maidens ?

Sounds more like one of my kooky Halloween posts ?
Nahhhhhhh !
Certain plants can send a chill up your spin as they transform from one state to another ..
Ergo my monster ? Oriental red poppy , in it's shell still.
You know you wouldn't want to "bump" into him on a life size scale ... right ?
He is looking right at you NOW!

Maiden ? .. I always think of clematis as girly flowers and clematis Warsaw Nike even dappled with rain drops is a looker : )

Now for something small and "sweet" ..
Who doesn't love "Sweet Woodruff" .. unassuming sweety of a woodland planting ?
So just a few plants with attitude naughty and nice, after the rain.
Our weather forecasters are now predicting that we will have a cool wet summer season.
Which is so good for the garden .. I can't believe some people actually are complaining about it.
That horrible heat and humidity we suffered through last year and years before ?
Are they CRAZY ??? .. build a sauna and stay there !!

I am hoping for a cool summer here as well - the plants and the gardener will appreciate it! Last summer's heat and drought was the pits.

That poppy is really creepy looking! Absolutely gorgey clematis...

Your photos are just beautiful!
Sweet Woodruff is really sweet but in some gardens it can be difficult to control.

Joy, my oriental poppies have just started blooming, and they are monsters like yours. I had to stand on a ladder to photograph the inside of the blooms ;-)

What a gorgeous Clematis, it's such a fabulous colour.
