Thalictrum "Evening Star"

I couldn't help myself and ended up ordering three more plants from my favorite mail order nursery ..
Canning ... the one that sends big beautiful plants that are amazing !
I missed out on a few that I waited too long to choose ..
Chris, the owner, made a suggestion on a thalictrum I have not really thought of before "Evening Star"
A gorgeous shade plant that flowers consistently through most of the season .. the flowers are delicate pretty little ones.
But that isn't all you get with this plant .. it has remarkable veining that makes the leaves jump out almost saying "look at me!"
In other words? total garden plant "eye candy" ! ..
Here is my order
From left to right .. the Evening Star .. Indian Pink (yes .. I want to build a colony of them! haha
And finally an epimedium with white flowers .. "Niveum" .. I am already thinking of Spring ? eekk !

Some pictures of how this little thalictrum settled in my garden.
It amazed me with no drooping from transplant shock at all !
The flowers are so sweet, but of course I had to cut them off to give the plant more strength in settling in.

I worked all day in the garden yesterday .. one of my main missions was to lay down mulch .. do you think I got any of that done ?
I have 7 big bags in the back of my KIA ........ still waiting !!   arrrgghhh !!

I have had Indian pinks in my garden (notice the past tense). I loved them and was not happy when the rabbits ate one and the other two did not make it through the winter. I hope you do better than I did. Love that thalictrum too!

Joy, I had lots of Thalis..and I gave them all away before we moved.

Well, we all know that just means I need to go out and buy more to replace them.

Your's look lovely.

Hi Joy! It's been awhile since I've been around so thought I'd stop by and there you have Thalictrum, one of my favorite shade plants. Mine has lacy foliage and pretty pinky-lavender flowers. I love yours; hadn't heard of it before but now I've got to find one for my shade garden. Cheers!

Hello Elaine girl : )Thanks !
Gardening is true therapy for me .. physically and mentally .. I don't think of anything else when I am in the thick of things and that is wonderful!

Ms S girl hello there !
I am going to get some mulch duty done today .. I swear! LOL

Patty girl hello : )
I have gotten Indian Pinks through winters now .. I just have to be patient and wait for them in Spring because they are the slowest plant to emerge! Yes I am fascinated by this thalictrum too ;-)

Jen girl hello there : )
You certainly have to have a a few thalictrums in your garden for sure EH ! LOL Thanks girl : )

Christine girl hello there !!
I have been a while getting to your place too .. just so busy with my garden .. phew!
I have Splendide too the tall one with that lacy foliage and tiny gorgeous flowers : ) This one is completely different from the usual form eh ? you have to have one of these beauties girl!! LOL

What a pretty thalictrum! I'm afraid I wouldn't have the heart to cut off those blooms, but I'm sure the plant will be happier this way.

Ooh, I am so envious of your Indian Pinks! I looked all over for them this year, and the only source I found was very expensive. I may bite the bullet next year and order them anyway.

You've reminded me of what I forgot to do last night--unload the mulch from my car. My car probably smells like a moldy forest right now:)

I do not want to be a harbinger of bad news, but Evening Star has not survived the winter for me, two years running. Mulch it heavily lady and let me know what happens next Spring!

Rose girl I hope by now ? you were able to get that mulch out ? haha
I dumped 8 bags of it on Saturday .. marathon day in the garden.
I'm sorry the Indian Pinks are so pricey there .. that is rotten because they are a native and should be in everyone's garden !
Yes cutting the flowers off was hard but best for the plant to settle in and more flowers will bloom : )

Sweetie I am the "Mulch Queen"!! haha .. I will give this beauty TLC and hope for the best .. I have a few others that have come through winter for me so I know I have a micro climate happening here .. phew!!
