Time to Split ...?

Well there are great promises for VERY nice weather coming up these next few days ... so I will know more about how each plant is doing and if it is time to split some of them up.
Such as with this Alchemilla erthropoda (drawf Lady's Mantle)
I think you can see the natural "split" happening there .. I really like this plant and have actually ordered another .. I have stuck by the really good performers with my plant list for this year.

Another one I want to see fulfill it's reputation is the dwarf filipendula "Kahome"
I planted it last year but moved it around a few times .. I know .. how could I be so cruel doing that to a new plant ... I persist in being one walking experiment as a gardener ... my BAD !
It does look promising with nice foliage though.

Another one from a company I will so miss (Garden Import) is Little Quick Fire ...
A mini me of the regular hydrangea Quick Fire ... I have a thing for "mini me" plants now !
I know it looks rather scary for the moment but real gardeners can see beyond the bare bones of plants coming out of hibernation .... this is going to be awesome ... I can feel the good vibrations coming from it !!  Rock ON !!

And now for something I am thrilled about with an extraordinary plant ...
Kent Beauty oregano was one I had in a pot last year until the Fall when I planted it in the wrap bed.
Here it is in a pot in August 2014
The bees loved it to bits and I was too happy to oblige them !
Now here it is April 27 in the wrap bed peeking out at me .. remember this is zone 6+ ... and I am zone 5b !
I am one happy gardener !!

On the next level of garden gossip here ... Mrs. Robin has been sitting on her nest none stop for 5 or 6 days now .. mind you I don't shine a light on her during the night so I can't totally vouch for her then.  I mean she has to have a pee break some time right ?

Forget anything to do with a "Royal" birth because that is total BS ... watch nature working and that is what amazement is ... you go Mrs. Robin or Ms. Robin ... how ever you would like it to be !!

Now for my secret fairy dust for the garden beds ... a picture of my compost ... what other kind of nut would show you her bag of worm cast compost ?
So things are slowly beginning to perk up here ... I have been hunting down landscapers for the repair and proper installment of my stone pathways .. fingers crossed it won't cost me an arm and a leg ... since I need those to garden with !!
The saga continues !

Oh, Joy!
You're right: saga's continuing..
I miss some my plants as well, they were not covered well during this winter. You're happy to see survived plants, similar to me. Love your neighbors - robins, I've seen them here too ( near my tuja:))

Yay for plants that come back from the dead! I love Kent oregano, too and have a few pots of it in the garden. I love robins and have an old nest full of decorative eggs that I'm using in a tiny pot instead of a plant. I've put out loads of birdhouses but so far they're empty. Frustration....

Well that's funny, because just this very day I was going to order that Kent oregano, but it said zone 7, and I'm zone 6b. But if you can grow it, I can!

Hello Nadezda girl : )
Yes we do mourn the plants that don't make it but it makes it sweeter when we see the ones that are thriving .. that helps : ) Yes .. Mrs. Robin usually parks her little butt in our garden some where : )

Tammy girl.. this was my first attempt at over wintering KB oregano and I am so happy it worked ! Plus Banana Boat sedge , .. we once had a Carolina wren nest in the garden .. they don't come here usually because it isn't warm enough but this little guy was amazing ! Yup .. we try our best and feel great about it when it works eh ?
Hang in there girl !

Robin I just was over to your site and talked about how drainage is a key factor with KB oregano .. I think that is the secret !!
