The Sea of Green

You might miss "the tree for the forest" if all the green over takes your view.
Spicy hot spirea flowers can be so amazing with their starry tentacles reaching outwards.
Then there are the screaming oranges and yellows that call for our attention.
Butterfly weed can look deceptively simple from a distance, just think of all the stages it goes through and finally that alien looking seed pod with such fluffy end results.
Stella with "diamonds" watery crystals wearing like jewelry ?
A calm cool pale yellow in Aloha echinacea tamps down the heat and humidity a bit.
Cooler yet are the crocus like Blue Mouse Ears flowers in pale violet after the sprinklers have had their way with them .. can you spot the wasp enjoying the moisture ?
A closer look at the crocus like flowers
This was supposed to be Ruby Stella .. obviously it isn't.
If anyone knows what this day lily is , could they let me know ?
What is a garden without bees ?
This one seemed to be having a nap on the Giant Fleece Flower when I snapped this.
I mind my manners when I bump into a hornet ? not sure.
I have a new garden crane .. I was sad to see the old white distressed one too injured to carry on with it's job posing in the jungle, but this one should last a little longer .. hopefully ?
Yes ... this is the time of year when the garden becomes more of a jungle, so be it.
The sea of green takes over yet again.

My garden is also a sea of green. Your looks tremendous in its cloak of green with a bit of color embroidered through out. Love all the textures. They make my eyes dance. What is your tall grass in front of your barn? I wish I could help you with the name of your daylily. I have so many unnamed day lilies it is ridiculous. Most of the unnamed are ones I have had for many years. I am getting so that I don't really care if I lose a name of a plant. I don't try to mind you but I don't stress over that. Your crane sculpture is awesome. Cranes look so elegant and this statue captures that feeling. Have a great week.

The term green ocean for your garden ..., right. Your garden is filled with beautiful green plants and flowers that refresh your eyes.
It is beautiful!

It's so sad when garden ornaments get sick!
Lovely flowers.

Hello Lisa ;-)
Thank you so much girl ... the cone flowers are starting to make an impact now along with the black eyed susan . The tall grass is Miscanthus giganteus, it can be a stunner and make your garden look kind of tropical ? LOL Yup .. I have a few un-named, mis-named day lilies now but I have to go with the flow too .. they are what they are ? haha
I really wrenched the decision with buying this crane .. it was not cheap but I so love a crane in the garden .. I have another type by the basalt water fountain .. they were my weakness ! LOL

Hello Himawan and thank you for stopping by .. I enjoyed your blog as well.
Thank you for agreeing with how a sea of green can happen in a garden with plants .. it can be refreshing , as long as they are well watered ? LOL

Jenn girl hello there twice ! .. yes, I really was attached to the first crane that was there .. a plaster distressed white one .. but , you have to move on when mishaps occur right ? .. late summer is always tricky but so far so good.

I did enjoy seeing all those lovely blue, cooling blooms and the tangy ones too. Also loved seeing all those pollinators, especially the sleepy one....bless! Your new crane looks like it's made itself at home. I love jungles, and green, what's not to love?xxx

Hi there Snowbird :-)
Thank you ! .. Yes .. blue does certainly cool things down doesn't it ? I am very happy to see as many pollinators as possible in the garden. The big test will be when my hydrangea tree blooms because the Monarchs went mad for it last year, fingers crossed !
I think my new crane is happy .. and hopefully will have along fulfilling life in my garden LOL !

How lush everything looks in your garden, Joy! Mine is frizzled to a crisp. Even the dry-shade-tolerant plants are gasping. We were so grateful for the heavy rains of the last week. But I doubt it will bring back the drought-killed Epimedium. Happy gardening!

Hi Helen and thank you ! The weather has been so up and down you can't count on it for any help .. if I didn't have the sprinkler system my garden would be dead I am sure .. I am sorry about your epimedium .. I have one that is looking like a ghost .. so it may be joining yours? LOL .. I worked for a few hours today and I am wiped out from the heat and humidity.
Gardening has become one heck of a job this year .. but we always "see" what the possibilities of next year could be right ?

Hello Tamara and thanks very much .. the lushness will get a bit weary when August fully rolls in I am afraid, but for now it is doing well.

Hello Cherry .. I enjoyed your post on gum .. it made me smile a lot. Thank you for stopping by with your comments !

Those spots of color in a sea of green are wonderful. I love that 'Aloha' Echinacea but regrettably Echinacea doesn't hold up long here (which doesn't mean I don't pick up a couple now and then). I love Spirea and Hostas too (whether the latter is blooming or not) but neither plant likes southern California. Finding a sleeping bee always makes me smile.

We have come out of a period where few plants interrupted all the green, but now we are coming to the part of summer where yellow flowers are everywhere, accompanied by orange, red, and other colors on occasion. You are right about the resemblance that some Hosta flowers have to Crocus - never noticed that before.

CanadianGardenJoy said...

Hello Kris and thank you ! .. I can understand that at times you are as restricted as I am for our zones and weather patterns .. it is what it is right ? LOL
I do have a thing for spireas .. they are my little work horses, as are my hosta.
I was entranced by this sleepy bee and stood there watching it as long as possible .. it still didn't move when I had to .. a good long nap indeed !

Hi Jason .. I do have a smattering of colour and hopefully more to come, as you said yellow, orange and red do stand out now. I find it is Blue Mouse Ears in particular that has the flowers closest resembling crocus .. they are little jewels !

So many things to love in your garden. I have that little hosta but it doesn't bloom. I think I've got it in too much shade. I may have to remedy that. Thank you for the inspiration, my dear.

Hello Gracie ! .. thank you ;-) I never thought they would blom so well myself but they have a great habit of doing just that for years now .. maybe that extra sun will help yours as well!

yes, flowers in garden should be visited by bees and butterfly.....and hummingbirds.
Thank you for sharing beautiful photos.

Hello Tanza , thank you for stopping by with your comments !
I have yet to see the hummingbirds .. I'm not sure if they are in our neighborhood but I hope so .. and i hope more flowers will open to have them enjoyed ;-)
