Simple Signs

Summer is packing her bags up ... slowly

Little signs here and there as Autumn advances or dances ? in  .. I think I miss the traditional ORANGE pumpkin, even though the white one caught my eye. Korean Yellow Waxbell  flowers have formed even though their foliage took a terrible beating this season .. it is a stubborn plant ?

Variegated Porcelain Berry vine in different shades of berries
My Japanese Maples are gorgeous in the morning and early evening sun
That shimmering glow is so eye catching but so quick to disappear
This little Chickadee was patiently drinking water in a hollow of the arm from the garden bench
The moon these last few nights has been glorious  .. almost a Harvest moon .. but missing the golden glow that makes it look so amazing for this time of year.
A few signs of Autumn refreshes the air and is very welcome here.

Ah yes, the teasing dance of fall. Crisp air, blue skies one day, then lots of rain the next, then humidity, rinse (literally) and repeat, that has been our September. But fall is winning over summer. It's just a matter of time. Korean Yellow Waxbell is a new plant to me. I enjoyed your Japanese maple leaves; the angle of the sun this time of year hints at the perpetual (to me, anyway) golden hour of later in October.

I adore that variegated porcelain berry! I've never seen that one before, which I suspect means it can't possibly grow in my area. My own Japanese maple has shown no sign of coloring up, although the ginkgo we planted earlier this year is definitely moving toward its fall exit. We've seen other small signs that fall is in the offing too - the nights are cooler (our heater came on this morning for the first time in ages) and we had a stretch of cooler daytime temperatures last week (which means low 70sF here) but we're expecting temperatures to soar again beginning tomorrow. Summer and fall tend to weave together here well into late October.

Indeed, autumn is settling in. The cooler air will be welcome. Even the decay will be welcome.

The ivory pumpkins are gorgeous purely for the gorgeousness of them, but the orange ones evoke the time of year much more.

Sweet shot of the Chickadee and great one of the moon. Better the moon is not golden--at least here anyway it means the air is dirty with smoke. :(

Best wishes for a beautiful Autumn!

Joy, wonderful photos of the moon. I can see all the details on its surface. There are many orange pumpkins here, but they are too big to buy. I love pumpkin soup. Autumn has also come. The temperature dropped, +10 C. Love your Japanese maple, the leaves are beautiful.
Happy weekend!

Wow - your pictures are GORGEOUS! I love this time of year - the weather is perfect for hanging around outdoors and I'm taking stock of what's worked/not worked this year and what I'll be doing next year. It won't be long before I can turn my attention to inside stuff - indoor projects always seem to pile up during the summer and I'm happy to change my focus to them once the garden is done.

What beautiful autumn colours, I'm loving the blues and that glorious maple, truly, it glows! What a sweet chickadee, bless. Wow, great moon shot! I must have a go at capturing the moon. What camera do you use?xxx

Thanks again for visiting and the comments ! ... I am just so tied up right now I haven't been able to visit or comment back properly :-)
The camera I use is a Sony Cyber-Shot with a Zeiss lens .. 20.4 megapixels, 50 x optical zoom.
Hope that helps ?

Autumn seems reluctant to arrive here in Ohio, 83 degrees here today and no sign of frost in the forecast. That porcelain vine is gorgeous!
