Murphy's Oil Soap Recipe for Helen

This is a recipe I came across yesterday because the aphids and lily beetles drove me further over the edge than usual .. I tweaked it for a quick use this morning but have a look and tailor it to your needs !
4 cloves of garlic
1 small onion
1 small jalapeno pepper
1 tsp. Murphy's oil soap
1 tsp. veggie oil
Pulverize garlic, onion and pepper in blender or take it out on them manually to release your frustrations !
Steep in a quart of warm water for 2 hours .. strain mixture dilute liquid 3 parts warm water to one part this concoction and ADD Murphy's Oil Soap at this stage .. spray several times a week if you have to .. get those little buggers !!
Powdery Mildew Solution
1 gallon warm water
3 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon Murphy's soap
mix well and spray both sides of foliage every 7 to 10 days

I did a quick version of oil soap, baking soda .. a bit of veggie oil in warm water for my spritzer bottle and blasted my roses and lily plants .. I'll let you know if I screwed up with the amounts from my mad scientist routine ! ..

Ok, I know your "recipe" isn't to make people food, but it struck me funny to imagine mistaking it for an appetizer. This thought reminded me of the graffiti on a condom machine: "This gum tastes funny".

Duly noted and bookmarked for future reference -- or immediate use, whichever comes first. Thanks!

I noticed something having a party in my Four O'clocks.
Probably needs BT.

Joy, I dont know what Murphy's Oil soap contains but if you can get hold of some neem oil, add that. Its fantastic stuff.
I usually add about 1 cup neem oil to a 10 litre bucket of water but you can scale it down if you like. I also add crushed garlic and dried chillies too. Those bugs wont know what hit them!

WS !!! You gave me such a great laugh this morning : ) Thank you !!
I thought the recipe was on the border of eating or spray at times too ; ) LOL

Hi Helen .. so it has come to the strike in Toronto .. didn't you guys just go through that last year ? .. aren't they happy to have jobs when so many people have been laid off ? .. hope the garbage doesn't pile up too long girl !

Donna .. did you hear clinking glasses from the flowers in the wee hours of the morning .. they party 24/7 girl ! LOL

Hello there B&K ! .. I haven't used the complete formula yet .. just a hasty one yesterday morning .. but it is all natural and should have a positive impact on keeping the bug patrol down hopefully ? !

Cindee girl .. I understand : ) I try to find the easiest solution to these problems possible .. plus I have never used the new blender yet ? LOL

Janet .. I'm laughing as I type here girl .. I SO WISH that were true .. I have a touch of flu and of course the house is a state .. why don't we ever get sick AFTER we have the house clean and shiny ??? LOL

Hello there Sunita ! .. I was going to hunt down neem oil too ! .. I have heard from another friend that it is very affective .. I just wish I had been better prepared this time of year for my lilies .. I don't have many but it seems I was so NOT ready this year for anything .. thanks for reminding me girl !!

I will write down these recipes and IF it ever stops raining here, I'll give them a try.

Like you, my garden has exploded and I can't get out to do anything. I need a goat for the grass! The red beetles and slugs have all but destroyed most of my lilies.

great to see you're doing a less toxic version -- bravo to you Joy!! Great to see that darling Sophie and her cohort, Emma still 'hanging out' :)

Gail .. girl I laughed over that one so much too !.. I haven't mixed the full version of the oil soap recipe but I know I will soon as I can manage it .. I think it is a keeper for sure !

Oh Giddy .. this year jumped forward so fast .. caught me with my knickers down ? LOL .. the rain would be great if we could balance a few sunny days in between eh ?
Those damn beetles .. aphids .. gggrrrrr !!

Hey there Diane .. Sophie is on an exercise and diet program (just like I should be) she isn't impressed with the cut back in the food department but she has funny chasing string for me ? .. the hard part is I have to put Emma in one of the bedrooms when I have to get Sophie into her exercise routine .. otherwise Emma would hog the "chase the string" routine .. I swear she also has Siamese in her .. so STUBBORN !!
