Happy New Year Shadow Shot Style

Happy New Year for 2011 to all the wonderful bloggers out there whether you be a Shadow Shooter or a Garden Geek ?
The impossible has happened to Kingston here .. we are totally GREEN and it is raining here.
Naturally no shadows now or this past week .. the weather has been so NOT us !
But .. I am fortunate enough to pull one out of my archive that has a warm ? indoorsy ? feel .. the right way for this type of weather and time .. snuggle up with a cuppa tea and watch TV
Do make sure to visit Tracy at Hey Harriet to see what my fellow Shadow Shooters have been up to though ... and start 2011 in an interesting way : )

Great shadow shot for the day! After weeks of all gray skies and rain, we're actually starting off the new year with blue, blue cloudless skies and sunshine!! It's not warm, but it's beautiful! Enjoy the weekend, stay warm!!

It is certainly a dull and dreary day today. But I'm enjoying this milder weather as I just know that winter will be here with a vengence soon.

Happy New Year Joy! Enjoy the milder weather for I am certain it will not last too long. Many blessings for the new year! Thanks for all of your kindness over this last year and beyond. May 2011 be your best gardening year yet. ;>)

Shadows as art works in any weather! It is that warm down near Long Island Sound, the snow of Sunday melting, but not gone. Spring awaits! Happy New Year!

Joy, we had close to 60 degrees F yesterday with lots of rain, green grass, lots of green plants underneath all of that snow. I thought it was spring!

However today it is 18 degrees F and I can already see all of those green things curling up and shivering. I guess winter is not over, darn!

It is raining here too. All the snow is gone and it is over 50 degrees. The little perennials are getting fooled. Happy New Year to you and also Happy Gardening in 2011.

Happy New Year, Joy! All the best for 2011; I hope it's a good one for all of you.

Can you believe this weather? It's warm enough to be spring. And where the heck did all the snow go? It's incredible!

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hello, and wish you and your gang all the best.

It reached almost 60 degrees today, and the snow is melting fast and furiously. It's not supposed to get this warm over the next few days, but it will still be warmer than typical for this time of year.

I remember 3 or 4 winters ago we got a bizarre stretch of two weeks in January where the temperatures reached the 50s almost every day. Perennials and shrubs started putting out leaves, and when the temperatures went back to cold, everything died quickly. Very few of the plants actually died, but some of them didn't get leaves again until June or even July.

Happy New Year RP !
Yes ! I remember that time and I think I lost a Monkshood with a few other plants .. but that just has to happen with the unnatural weather at times ? This is really playing havoc with the garden though .. I am afraid of seeing little greens from the bulb beds reaching up ! and yes .. the very slow start for the leaves that are afraid to bud out .. not good !

What??? Green in Kingston at this time of year??? Where has all the snow gone to? Is that the stuff that was dumped on New York?

Lovely printing block with nice shadows.

I do wish you snow to protect the plants from deep freezing.

A Happy 2911 to you and your garden!

Joy, it was a dreadfully cold day when we normally would have been sweltering so I was wearing three layers and the gusting wind was whipping my scarf about. I thought the shadow looked kind'a cute.

Hugs . . . Arija

Strange weather for sure, but I'll take a January thaw any ol' day of the week...it was so delightful to see the snow disappear like that, but now back to reality and freezing temps, hey, it's still winter in the Nor'lunds, but we can dream can't we...now I have garden booty envy...thanks a lot!!! (mine are canary yellow)!
