Changes to come .....

I have to admit .... I am a little nervous about the big changes to come .. especially in the back garden.
One thing I am not nervous about and can NOT wait to SEE ! is the new back fence.
With our house we own the back fence but the fences on each side of us are our perspective neighbors.
So # 1  is a higher more private fence ... YAHOOOOOOO !!!
You wouldn't believe how welcome that is .. I wish I lived in a forest but with all my amenities of course.
I am not crazy after all .. just spoiled ?
# 2 is that all the grass is coming out for flagstone .....it is supposed to make it much easier for hubby and I. No mowing for hubby .. no wrenching of grass out of borders for me .. easy eh ?
But ? ... I will miss those cool green pathways a little ... sigh ... but it is for the best.

See what I mean ? .. but another plus ? .. no grass to absorb the rain, and no emergency watering of dying grass to keep it looking decent ! More rain for the plants in the garden beds !
It is hard to imagine at this point but you will see the pictures eventually when it happens ..

Now for the "Midnight Oil" !

I waited three years for this baby to flower .. I am not a bearded iris fan .. too floppy and a pain in the blank to designate space to .. but I wanted to see how this dark flower would look and there she is !

My white peony Petite Porcelain is flowering first time too !

So there are a lot of surprises and changes coming along in the garden.
A nice surprise is the chipmunk family that has adopted our garden .. no damages .. just a lot of fun watching the family run and play all over the place ... between them , the robin family raising it's young ones, the Goldfinches, Morning Doves ... it is a little wildlife zoo here and we love it .. it doesn't get much better.
Here is Mr. Chips .. he was washing up for his picture but I just couldn't wait, go figure a woman eh?

Hi stranger. Hope you are well.I know what you mean about privacy. One of our 4 neighbors took down trees so now they can see into our backyard. They don't spend time in that area but still I like going out the back door in my jammies...ya know. Anyway your garden is awesome!!!

I know what you mean about being nervous losing your grass. But since I couldn't grow grass, it was an easy decision for me! You have such lush grass! But I bet the flagstone is going to be beautiful. Can't wait to see it!

I can't wait to see your changeover. I have often debated getting rid of the grass but the dogs would protest! You will love having a high fence to be the frame for your garden.

Hello there Patsi girl! Yes!
Long time no see ;-) and thank you!
I so understand about your jammie time in the garden ... I still like mine too and once that higher more private fence goes up I will feel a little easier about it all.
My gosh you really have space designation to the veggies .. hubby must be very busy with that!LOL

Hello there BB .. LOL
What a header picture jam packed with such pretty plants (I forgot to mention that in my comment to you) I love the colour of your bench .. that soft yellow (yellow is my favorite colour) .. it will be gorgeous in the garden for sure!

Cristal ... your little Queen for the day looked like she had a wonderful time with her birthday and those wonderful cupcakes !
Now I am craving one badly ..haha!

Leslie girl your garden is looking so pretty ... I love the gravel, it does take some up keep but it is much better than the sparse grass that was there .. hope you will be free from school duties soon and enjoy your time in the garden : )

Eileen girl .. I am nervous and excited at the same time .. this is a huge change but so needed to make things easier and more comfortable. I think Reggie and Duffy would certainly protest grass removal no doubt about that!
LOL ... artificial turf ?? LOL

Your garden is looking gorgeous now, and I think the flagstone will be just incredible. I'd love to have that instead of the grass/bark mulch paths I have now, both for ease of maintenance and for beauty. I'd also love a giant fence around my backyard (and front too, if it were only allowed, lol). Wouldn't it be great to live on a remote muti-acre farm/wilderness, that is only 10 minutes walk to a good shopping mall?

Spurge you dream the same dream I do! ... thank you so much for the compliment on my gardens : )
Yes .. I am hoping it all goes well and becomes a little easier to manage with the stone down.
Fingers crossed !!

Wow I'm glad I saw you comment on another blog and came over to visit. I love your garden and how the pathway leads you around. I tried a grass pathway with mine for about 5 years and finally gave in and we put in the flagstone to go with the flagstone patio. It was a struggled to get in and mow, plus the grass goes flying which makes for more cleanup! The iris is pretty- I have some very similar in color that are just beginning to bloom. We put a fence up to block our neighbors immediate view several years ago and I'm glad for it. We need our privacy!

You are so brave! I would cry all over that grass... And, you are lucky - I should negotiate with my husband each square foot of the grass that I want to turn into a plantbed.
Good luck with the project! Your garden is so lush and cozy, it's impossible to spoil it.

Hello Liz and thank you so much !
Yes ... the grass pathways did a wonderful job and looked so nice in a good year ... otherwise brown in drought years .. but yes, all those problems of grass blowing in and growing in too.
Ah yes ... the privacy issue .. I only wish we could have a huge fence all the way around but at least the back will be good for now? haha
Thanks for stopping by Liz : )

Hello there Tatyana girl ! and thank you so much !
Long time no see! .. I won't be crying too much .. it will make garden much easier to handle I think.. and we always have the front garden to visit the grass ? LOL

Lona girl I just dropped an quick e-mail to you : )
Thank you ! I am so excited about the changes to come .. it just takes a while because every time it rains we get pushed back on the schedule.
We actually have a little family of 3, so far in the chipmunk clan .. hubby and I love watching them .. they are hilarious .. precious little things .. thankfulyl we aren't having a cat problem like we did last year .. and our kitties are totally indoor cats like all of them should be!

I have absolutely no privacy in my garden at all. I am constantly on display. Sigh... I understand your desire for a taller fence. Mine is only 4 ft tall and see through! I do love your grass paths but flagstone will be easier to maintain. Our chipmunks stay well hidden because of our dogs. Smart!

I don't think there is a gardener on earth that doesn't desire privacy .. we want to be alone in our little Edens to enjoy it quietly and privately ... I just so want this project to start and finish in fast mode SOON !!
